In Walter Isaacson’s biography of Steve Jobs, the late co-founder of Apple was quoted as saying that he wanted to go “thermonuclear” in the war against Android and it looks like that could very well be happening. It would appear that the Apple versus Samsung patent war in Australia has just been broadened, thanks to Apple hitting Samsung with 278 claims of patent infringement across 10 devices, some of which have yet to see the light of day as far as the Australian market is concerned.
Samsung is now being slapped with lawsuits alleging they have infringed upon 22 patents, which is a little over 7 times more than what they were originally facing with the Galaxy Tab 10.1. According to Samsung, Apple had “give only days notice” prior to their new claims, which means that this “thermonuclear” bomb of a lawsuit could be pushed to mid-May to allow Samsung to build their defense. Are things starting to get out of hand, or have we gone way past that point already?
