  • PHNOM PENH (Herald) – The situation along the Cambodia-Thai border was quiet Saturday amid expectations that Thailand would commence war games near the border in Ordor Meanchey province on Sunday, sources said.

“We don’t have any concerns about the Thai war games," said General Chhum Socheat, spokesman for the National Defense Ministry, adding that the military exercises were not expected to affect Cambodian territory.

Thailand informed Cambodia on Friday that it would hold the exercises nine kilometers from the border in Ordor Meanchey’s Banteay Ompil district.
