PHNOM PENH, December 26, 2011 (Cambodia Herald) - Cambodia's exports leapt 42.8 percent from a year earlier to $4.5 billion in the 11 months to November, the Ministry of Commerce said Monday.
The ministry said imports grew at a slightly slower pace of 40 percent to reach $5.97 billion in the same period.
Exports were led by garments and textiles, which accounted for $3.94 billion, followed by latex which came to $182 million and rice which amounted to $87 million.
The main export destinations were the United States, Europe, China, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan and Canada.
Imports were led by raw materials for the garment and textile industry, which came to $2.36 billion, followed by petroleum products which absorbed $1.26 billion.
Other main import items were construction materials ($526 million), vehicles ($329 million), food and soft drink ($144 million), and pharmaceutical products and cosmetics ($125 million).
