    Avatar Themes wedding
Younger generations in China tend to want their weddings to be more fun. As few care what others think about them, they are becoming increasingly bold with asserting their individuality leading to a significant increase in the numbers of bizarre-themed weddings in China nowadays.

One of the trendiest bizarre-themed weddings is an Avatar Wedding in Hunan's Wulingyuan, where newly-wed can not only be joined by their friends and family, but also a couple of Na'vi "extras" hired for the occasion.

The scenic area of Wulingyuan, made famous by James Cameron's billion-dollar blockbuster movie Avatar, with its 3,100 ft. tall quartzite sandstone pillars, served as the inspiration for the "floating mountains" of Pandora in the movie Avatar. The mountain formerly known as Southern Sky Column is now known as Avatar Hallelujah mountain.

After Avatar became a global hit, forestry officials of Wulingyuan went into full exploitation mode and began "Tours of Pandora" as well as Pandora-themed weddings.

According to one bride, Xiao Tsao, who felt compelled to utilize the services of these exploitation kings, the "Na'vi" extras were nothing more than forestry workers wearing long underwear dyed blue and wearing unconvincing masks. As a whole, the result was very disappointing.

In addition to the Pandora-themed wedding, another rather odd trend that has been gaining popularity in China involves naked portraits of newly-weds. There are two options; the couple can either pose wearing absolutely nothing at all or with sheets (or leaves) placed strategically across their bodies.

Naked wedding photos are seen as a step to far in some quarters, proving offensive to much of China. The Shanghai Wedding Trade Association for photographers is pressing the government to ban any studio that engages in this practice, claiming that it disrespects the institution of marriage.

Unlike other cultures, traditionally, Chinese wedding photos are taken months before the ceremony. Taking and posing for naked photos falls within the realm of the law, but spreading the display of such in the public domain falls under pornography.

There are naked wedding photos posted on the Internet, and certainly, one can only wonder about the wisdom behind such a decision.
