  • PHNOM PENH - A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a clerk from Kandal Provincial Court in connection with a case involving Judge Huoth Heang who has been detained in Prey Sar prison for extorting $5,000 in relation to a land dispute, court sources said Wednesday.

Investigating Judge Phong Van declined to provide details about the arrest warrant.

The sources said, however, that the clerk, identified as Lim Kumphak, was closely involved in the land dispute case and that he and the judge discussed it with one of the parties last week.

Before Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) officers went to arrest the two court officials and another judge who has since been released, the clerk received a phone call and left, the sources said

In Van Vibol, chairman of the Kandal Provincial Court, declined to comment on the case as it is in the hands of an investigating judge.
