Ben Heck does not only potter around the house, he actually uses his Forge-like abilities (don’t know who Forge is? He is the super brilliant mutant who is able to cobble together technological wonders in moments) to tinker around with current devices, turning them into something better or more practical. Reverse engineering is the theme of the day, as Ben Heck turns an old-school InfraWave oven into an engineer’s ultimate reflow tool. This is demonstrated on the latest episode of “The Ben Heck Show”, and this is no simple DIY project, of course. It will involve deconstructing an InfraWave oven, where you will then need to attach a thermocouple, mounting the solid state relay (SSR) control.

As for the final build, this budget-friendly solder oven will feature an LCD screen and controller case which is not only creative and handy, allowing engineers to apply small surface-mount components in a jiffy to PCB circuit boards which more or less cannot be done by hand. Anyone willing to give the InfraWave oven project a go?
