  • PHNOM PENH (Herald) – DERO Shing garment factory representatives have sent a letter to the factory announcing a non-violent strike next week with a list of nine demands, sources said Saturday.

A statement said the workers were demanding that two of their union leaders be allowed to return to work after being dismissed. The workers also want a hospital and sanitary latrines in the factory as well as bonuses for housing, transport and free health checks.

The strike in front of the factory in Phnom Penh’s Russey Keo district is expected to draw about 2,000 workers.
