  • PHNOM PENH - Twelve Cambodian women trafficked to Malaysia to work as maids returned home Thursday, sources said.

The sources said police planned to question the women about who arranged their employment in Malaysia after they received health checks.

Sem Sok, an officer with the Cambodian League for the Promotion and Defense of Human Rights (Licadho), said one of the workers, identified only as Ya, had just given birth after being raped by her Malaysian employer.

The return of the maids was arranged by the Cambodian Ambassador to Malaysia in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
