Fact – Cervical cancer can be medically prevented. But although this is a very well-known and medically proven fact, women tend to take this as not-so-important, sometimes even blatant negligence.
Fact – The signs of cervical cancer are very clear and can be discerned by any woman who might be susceptible or high risk to this.
Fact – Modern science technology is so advanced that there is a cheap test or screening that you can take that will show you if you are susceptible to cervical cancer and will possibly save your life. In the United Kingdom alone, this type of screening probably saves the lives of over a hundred thousand persons every year.
Be informed though that when these symptoms or signs of cervical cancer come into sight, there is a big chance that you cervical cells have already become cancerous and have already affected their neighboring tissues.
Here are some signs of cervical cancer: Abnormal bleeding that is basically a menstrual period within a menstrual period. This can also take place after sexual intercourse. Menstrual periods that are denser and lengthier than regular periods. If you have already experienced menopause and then suddenly you have bleeding or discharge, that may also signs of cervical cancer.
The challenging part in preventing this disease is that they are not really noticed until it is very late in the stage. Women do not feel pain during any pre-cancer changes in their cervix, therefore they are usually unnoticeable. They can only be perceived if certain tests are taken like pelvic examination and Pap test.
Here are a few ways to treat cervical cancer:
1. Cryosurgery – Can be performed in the doctor’s office. The process calls for a silver probe to freeze and eliminate the unusual cells forming in the cervix.
2. Cryosurgery Hysterectomy – A major surgery that involves removing the uterus. This is performed on abnormal lesions that have started to form.
3. Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure (LEEP) – This is the simplest solution you can find if the cancerous cervical cells have only started to invade the outer portion of the cervix. The process is done using an electric-charged wire. This can also be done in the doctor’s office.
4. Traditional Methods – Radiation Therapy, Chemotherapy, Biological Therapy.
