  • PHNOM PENH  - Prime Minister Hun Sen inaugurated Tuesday National Road 76 in Mondolkiri province which is expected to contribute to the economic development of northeastern Cambodia.

"This road will also contribute to the development of the Cambodia-Vietnam-Lao triangle region," a government official said, adding that it would also help achieve the goal of connecting ASEAN countries.

People in northeast Cambodia can now easily transport products to ports in both Phnom Penh and  Sihanoukville as well as many border checkpoints on the Thai border via several routes.

The official noted that the road also created "golden opportunities for the tourism sector" by connecting the northeast with popular tourist destinations in the northwest such as Siem Reap and Preah Vihear. source
