IT Spending in Cambodia expects to reach $209 Mls dollars in 2015

  • The Ministry of Post and Telecommunication said that the IT spending in Cambodia is expected to increase to $209 million in 2015 while the development of ICT is going on and it also will provide a better climate for investment in the Kingdom.
    Secretary of State of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunication, H.E Ek Vandy said: “ Cambodia ’s ICT industry is in early stages of development. At this stage, there are many opportunities and room for growth in almost all areas of ICT, the mobile service market being somewhat of an exception.” “The nation itself is expected to experience strong economic growth in the range of 6 – 8% in the coming years, and the ICT industry is expected to enjoy even higher growth rates,” he said, adding that several regulations in the industry provide a favorable climate for investments and growth. “IT spending in Cambodia is expected to exceed US$ 100 million in 2011 and reach US$ 209 million in 2015, representing a compound annual growth rate of 17% from 2009 to 2015,” he told a press conference at an ICT forum. “The Government’s spending on IT, particularly for hardware, software and services remain a key market segment.” he noted.
    Cambodia’s Plan to host the Construction and ICT World Expo 2012 and this 8th Cambodia IT and Telecommunication World Exhibition organized with The 3rdCambodia Building Architecture and Construction World Expo 2012 (Cambuild 2012) will be officially hosted and co-organized by the National ICT Development Authority (NiDA), the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction, and the International Data Group (IDG ASEAN) with the strong support by the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications. These events will be held from 6 – 8, April 2012 at the Diamond Convention Center —Koh Pich according to the press release.
    Speaking at the press conference on December 21, Deputy Secretary General of NiDA, H.E Chea Manit, said that the 8th Cambodia IT and Telecommunication World Expo 2012 adopted the theme: “Building a robust IT and Telecommunications Industry in Cambodia” which is organized to speed-up the country’s ICT industry development by calling the government sectors, companies, and individual specialists to share their experiences.
    “The Expo is also dedicated for local and international companies to showcase their latest ICT products, services, and technologies during the 3-day event,” he said.
    Secretary of State of Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction, H.E Phuoeng Sophea also said Cambuild 2012 is the annual largest international business – to business exposition for the building and construction industry in Cambodia.
    The Expo will showcase premium and innovative products and set the trend for this industry where projects on building and property are being developed in Cambodia by featuring the theme “Integrating to World Trends and Advanced Solutions Toward sustainable Building, Architecture and Construction.”
    “The event will enable visitors to learn about Cambodia’s construction modernization and national culture preserver and state of policy and prospects in the coming year, the latest trends in the commercial building, Architectural industry, green innovation and technology, and energy efficiency,” he added.
    With more than 50 brands and 200 booths at the Expo, the spotlight will be on the latest technology innovations including telecom equipment, network devices, telecom services and solutions, hardware, digital equipment, office equipment, home equipment and entertainment equipment, said Mr. Le Thanh Tam, CEO of IDG.
    The 4th Cambodia ICT Product and Service Awards will continue to give recognition to the most favored ICT and Telecom products selected by experts in the industry and by consumers themselves.
