  • PHNOM PENH (CEN) - Prime Minister Hun Sen urged Bank of China and Export-Import Bank of China Thursday to put priority on financing infrastructure and irrigation projects in Cambodia, a spokesman said.

Ieng Sophallet, personal assistant to the prime minister, told reporters that Hun Sen made the remarks during a meeting with Export-Import Bank president Li Ruogu, who is to sign agreements for two road projects and an irrigation project during his visit to Cambodia.

The Chinese banker told the prime minister that the China-ASEAN Foundation had $4 billion available for such loans, he said. Li Ruguo also said he would consider financing for National Road 6, which Hun Sen said was a priority project since it was the most important road for trade and tourism.
