  • PHNOM PENH - Insurance sector in Cambodia has gained up to $ 29,7 million, slightly increased from $24,9 million last year, according to Rasmei Kampuchea.

Figure of the General Insurance Association of Cambodia showed that the incomes from insurance sector had increased significantly with the growth of 19 % in 2011 compared with 2010’s figure, the paper said.

Those incomes were from fire (26 %), motor vehicle (19%), health (15%), engineering (13%), and other insurance (17%).

Though the revenue from insurance makes the income soar, but it is also required to compensate up to $ 33 million due to the fire of some garment factories, the newspaper says.

Cambodia now has six insurance companies, including Forte, Caminco, Asia Campubank, Infinity, and Cambodia-Vietnam Insurance Companies.

The paper says life insurance is not available in Cambodia yet, but it is expected to exist soon. source: Herald
