  • PHNOM PENH (Cambodia) - A Vietnamese colonel has authored a book on the memoirs of Vietnamese soldiers who served in Cambodia between 1979 and 1989, Nhan Dan Online reported.

The report late Monday said the book "Dat Kim Cuong" (Diamond Land) by Colonel Nguyen Van Hong had been published in Tam Ky city in Quang Nam province.

Proceeds from the sale of the book will be donated to a Spratly Islands development program sponsored by Tuoi Tre newspaper, the report said.

Nhan Dan said the book had been launched at an event held jointly by the Thanh Nien Publishing House, the Military Culture Magazine and the Literature Publishing House to mark the 33rd anniversary of the liberation of Phnom Penh on January 7 and the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Year in 2012.
