  • PHNOM PENH (Herald) - Cambodia and Thailand will resume border talks next week with the Cambodian delegation led by Var Kim Hong, the Cambodian chairman of the Joint Border Committee (JBC), leaving for Bangkok on Sunday.

"This will be the first plenary border talks of the JBC since 2008," Var Kim Hong said, adding that the discussions would take place on Monday and Tuesday, focusing on aerial border mapping and border posts which define the boundary between the two countries.

He said, however, that the talks would not cover border issues around Preah Vihear temple.

Var Kim Hong said that 48 of 73 border posts had been located. But neither side agreed on the location of some posts, he said, warning that the meeting in Bangkok would not be useful if results had to be submitted to the Thai parliament.
