Former Chea Sim bodyguard gets 10 years

    • PHNOM PENH (CEN) – The Phnom Penh Municipal Court sentenced Chea Sim bodyguard chief Chhoeun Chanthorn Thursday to 10 years in prison and a fine of five million riel for using illegal weapons and issuing fake gun licenses.

    Chhoeun Chanthorn said he would appeal the verdict.

    The announcement came a day after the former head of the Senate president's bodyguard unit appeared in a military court facing additional charges of selling military property. The verdict in that case is expected next Friday.
