Hun Sen calls for expanded cooperation between Cambodia and Laos

    • PHNOM PENH (Herald) - Prime Minister Hun Sen has urged Laos to strengthen economic cooperation with Cambodia, especially in the tourism sector, a spokesman said Thursday.

    Ieng Sophallet, personal assistant to the prime minister, told reporters that Hun Sen also congratulated Lao Deputy Prime Minister Somsawad Lengsawad on his country's economic development.

    Somsawad replied that with economic growth reaching 8.3 percent and GDP per capita climbing to $1,100, poverty in Laos is declining every year, the spokesman said.
