Hun Sen says drugs are a complicated issue

    • PHNOM PENH (Herald) – Prime Minister Hun Sen said Thursday that drug trafficking and use in Cambodia was a complicated issue causing social problems.

    Noting that drug-related arrests on 2011 were almost three times higher than in 2010, he urged authorities and police to strengthen collaboration within institutions as well as with the region and the rest of the world.

    “Authorities need to encourage people in society to stop and oppose drug-trafficking activities together,” he said.

    Hun Sen also warned authorities against using their position to help drug offenders.
