  • It’s almost that time of year again! That time of year when you must spend torturous hours in and out of swimsuit stores, trying to find the right swimsuit that will really flatter your figure.
Most of us aren’t born with flawless bodies – as a matter of fact, none of us are! Choosing a bathing suit or a bikini that is right for your body can be stressful, but when armed with a few tips and tricks you will be able to pick out that perfect bikini in no time.
Different Body Types wear Different Bathing Suits
You may love a certain style of bikini or bathing suit, but if it isn’t flattering to your body shape then you just have to move on. Here are some great tips on how to choose the right style of bikini based on your particular body type:
No-Curves: If you have no curves, you may feel as if a bikini or bathing suit only makes you look more rectangular and boring. Wrong! One of the best bathing suits for those with zero curves is the one-piece halter wrap bathing suit. The low dip in the front that also ties around the neck really adds some extra shape to your otherwise shapeless upper body. The suit is also wrapped right around the waist, so you are given the illusion of actually having a waist and a bit of curve.
Hour Glass Figures: Hour glass figures are often thought to be the most desirable of the beach bodies, but they too have to follow rules when it comes to buying the right bathing suit. Try to choose bathing suits that are halter or triangle-style bikinis. These will help your body appear to be in proportion.
Full Breasts: Having large breasts can be a nightmare when it comes to bathing suit shopping! A good way to give your body back its proper proportions and reduce the appearance of your breasts is to choose a one-color one-piece bathing suit or a two piece that has two different colors for the top and the bottom.
Fuller Bottom: If you have a larger bottom than top, you can easily slim down your backside with a one piece suit that will both slim down the top and then flair out to a skirted bottom to help conceal the roundness of your bottom. Boy shorts are also a very popular choice, especially as they can be worn over a one piece or two piece suit.
    What about Color and Pattern?
An important thing to remember when choosing any patterns or colors is that dark colors should be chosen to conceal and slim down, whereas lighter colors will highlight and draw emphasis to the body part or parts that it is being worn on.
It’s also important to choose colors that you like and that will flatter your skin tone. A lot of very pale women will not be able to pull off neon orange or bright green bathing suits, so definitely try the bathing suit on prior to purchase!
