  • PHNOM PENH - About 200 residents of Boeung Kok and Borei Keila gathered in front of Phnom Penh City Hall Wednesday morning to demand solutions to separate land disputes,  sources said.

The sources said the Borei Keila residents, whose homes were bulldozed in January, were demanding that municipal authorities respond to a letter from National Assembly President Heng Samrin who has asked for proper compensation for evicted families.

At the same time, the sources said, the Boeung Kok residents were demanding 12.44 hectares of land offered by the government, saying that some their homes had been flooded due sand pumping by Shukaku, a local property developer. source
