The inability of ESL teachers to effectively manage classroom behavior often contributes to the low achievement of at-risk students and their excessive referrals for education. These effects are exacerbated by the current pattern of teacher distribution, which reveals a disproportionate assignment of less qualified and less experienced teachers to classroom with economically disadvantaged children. The purposes of this Effective Classroom Management Methodologies training are to reveal new, unable, less experienced teachers and experienced to the capable teachers with high confidence when being in classroom. The training also aims at getting ready to fresh teachers for teaching, managing and controlling children effectively. DON’T MISS!

Course Coverage:
      • Understanding classroom management definition: The wide range of definitions will demonstrate the possibility of concept ideas being beneficial to fresh, less experienced and experienced teachers.
        Acknowledging misbehaviors and their causes: Many of classroom misbehaviors made by students are showed off comparing to participants tracking. Participants will realize the disruptive behaviors that they are able to define best solutions before going into the classroom.
      • Adapting effective prevention strategies: Many interactive methods distributed in this training give a start-up strategy to all participants. Useful and basic prevent strategies are being practiced in this training and made unique remarks to existing strategies used by the participants.
      • Presenting strategies for misbehaviors: Interactive games are used as strategies to deal with minor and the most difficult misbehaviors of students. This method is used to avoid blaming or disappointing children but encouraging them to actively participate in learning and teaching process. All participants are also left some space to integrate their own discoveries of strategies to deal with the students’ misbehaviors.
      • Understanding and applying the four steps of better classroom discipline: Four steps existed in highly effective classroom discipline presentation will be detailed in this training. All participants can fully adapt or set their own ways to use with their students. Basically, all participants are required to list down their own steps of better classroom discipline.

He has over 10 years of teaching experiences and 5-year experiences in training Teachers of English within Not-for-profit organizations and private institutions.       International Human Rights Training Program


      We are delighted to announce that the application period for the 33rd annual International Human Rights Training Program (IHRTP) is now open and we will be accepting applications until November 21st, 2011.       The IHRTP is intended for human rights workers and educators from non-governmental organizations, National Human Rights Institutions, government bodies and educational institutions. The goal of the IHRTP is to strengthen the capacity of human rights organizations to undertake human rights education efforts aimed at building a global culture of human rights. The curriculum is based on principles of adult experiential learning in which participants and facilitators engage in a process of mutual teaching and learning.

      Half of the Earth’s population is living in coastal areas and the population density here is the double compared to the global average. Coastal zones all over the world are exposed to serious challenges related to over population and to competitive use of resources and ecosystem services from activities such as agriculture, fishery, tourism, urbanisation and industry. Sensitive ecosystems and negative effects from climate change increase the importance of a sustainable development and the need for an integrated planning and management, where the needs and rights of vulnerable groups are taken into account.

      Through the International Training Programme on Integrated Sustainable Coastal Development (ISCD) we aim at contributing to poverty alleviation, by supporting capacity building for an Integrated Sustainable Coastal Development. During the programme we strive to achieve an active and strong link to the participant’s professional area but also to strengthen the professional exchange between participants, enriching the programme through their different professional and geographical backgrounds.

      Objectives

      The long term objective of the programme is to contribute to an integrated sustainable development of coastal zones in which the needs and rights of poor people are taken into account. This shall be achieved through support to processes of change in key organisations working with planning and management of coastal zones.
      At the end of the programme each participants shall have:
      • Increased understanding of the importance and benefits of an integrated sustainable coastal planning and management for socioeconomic development, with respect to environmental impact, poverty alleviation and equality, in a livelihood; security and rights perspective.
      • Increased knowledge about the planning process for an integrated sustainable coastal development.
      • Increased knowledge about experiences, methods and tools for organisational change in general and within coastal zone management in particular.
      • Extended international and national networks for working with coastal development

      Target Group

      The programme is intended for key persons in organisations with a clear role in integrated coastal development e.g. central institutions, local authorities, private companies or NGOs.

      Contents

      The training programme is built around the participants Change Project (CP). Its purpose is to enable participants to link the learning from the programme to their own work context and to initiate and support processes of change in their home organisation. The participants will define, design and develop an CP based on needs, tasks and responsibilities in their ordinary work. 
       The training programme will address the following key topics: 
      • The ecological, economical and social challenges of sustainable coastal development and integrated planning
      • Legal and administrative mechanisms
      • Situation analysis
      • The planning process
      • Change process 
      Sida will cover all training costs such as lectures, literature, documentation, study tours and certain social activities, as well as board and lodging. Personal expenses are not included. International travel costs to and from the course in Sweden are not covered by Sida. The participants shall find funding and make their own travel arrangements from their home country to Sweden. Sida pays for international travel to the course in Tanzania. The participant carries costs incurred in travelling to the nearest international airport as well as all costs for obtaining visas and any local airport taxes and departure fees.
