  • PHNOM PENH (Herald) - A complaint by the opposition Sam Rainsy Party about campaigning in Kompong Chhang province has delayed the announcement of Senate election results, National Election Committee (NEC) Secretary General Tep Nitha said Wednesday.

He said the Constitutional Council would hear details of the allegations and advise the NEC of the outcome later this week. The party alleges that it was prevented from campaigning in Kompong Chhnang province.

The ruling Cambodian Peoples’ Party won an estimated 8,880 votes for the 57 seats up for grabs in the indirect election last month while the opposition Sam Rainsy Party got 2,503 votes.
